Ilonka Kühl-Harris
Principal
Born in Hamburg Germany, Ilonka Kühl-Harris immigrated to Canada in 1987. Since then she has been teaching children Pre-School to Grade Twelve in a great variety of public and private settings in Vancouver and overseas. Ilonka also teaches adults for the Vancouver School Board’s Continuing Education Division, and, on a contract basis, at a corporate level.
In addition to a B.A., a B.Ed., and M.Ed. from U.B.C., Ilonka's qualifications include Early Childhood Education, T.E.S.L. Certification, Montessori Training, Police Training, and Family and Community Counselling Certification.
She currently divides her time co-ordinating the Vancouver German School and fulfilling various translation, teaching, and community policing assignments for SD 40, SD 41, private corporations and the Vancouver Police Department.

Tanja Loeffler
Teacher
Tanja
Loeffler immigrated to Canada in 1993, after completing her education in Germany as a Kindergarten Teacher, she has been teaching at the Vancouver German School since 1998.
She enjoys to provide a learning environment that includes ways of learning such as play, games, art and physical participation. Tanja's materials are designed to provide for multi-level and multi-content experiences that focuses on language development.

Silvia Liebe
Teacher
Silvia Liebe, born in Zittau Germany, studied German as Second Language, Geography and Philosophy for teaching high school students from grades five to twelve. After her graduation from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany in March 2010 she moved to Vancouver to pursue her teaching profession.
Silvia enjoys working with students from all grades as well as working with preschool children. Her material reflects didactic theories as well as common sense and suits all types of learners.
Currently Silvia also works for continuing studies at the Langara College and as a private instructor at the Berlitz Language Centre.

Julia Hubler
Intern
Our intern Julia Hübler comes from Oederan, a small city in the eastern part of Germany. She is 19 years old. A
couple of weeks ago, she obtained the Abitur, a diploma from German secondary schools that qualifies for university
admission. The main focus of her courses for this diploma was Social Pedagogy. From October to May she will do an
internship at our school. After her internship she is going to start a degree program in Social Work at the
University of Dresden (the capital of Saxony).
